2017 Octane 161 SL

Hello,

I’ve just purchased a 2017 Jayco octane 161 SL. Quick question for the lower bunk/dinette. I’ve noticed that when I place the support brackets down to set up the lower bunk as a bed, it makes it very uncomfortable. It’s much more comfortable to leave the vertical brackets folded up.

Would it be unsafe for me to lay on the lower bunk without extending down those support brackets? Or will the couch bracket not support a person’s weight? The brackets seem to make the bed very uneven, even after adjusting the height and experimenting with each setting on it.

Thanks

Congratulations on the Octane and welcome to the forum.

Sorry, but I have no helpful info for you. You'll probably hear from an Octane owner or two before too long.

Hi
Trying to figure out if your laying across both seats, or just one? I have my granddaughters and wife and a friend all have laid on single seat, I have tried laying across both seats but that’s just to uncomfortable. That bar holds the seat up to keep from rolling and falling between seat.

It is advertised as a queen but very uncomfortable to sleep across length wise and too short to lay across the short way. I hope someone has a solution.

Ya the salesman did his job. The queen bed is the top bed, the couch’s are not. Even on the floor plans it states queen bed w (with) couches

I got the same problem with mine, and i am concerned about leaving those arms up as well..., i had to adjust mine a few times to get the bench seats where they would be comfortable. I also took that cheesy mattress off the upper queen bed and used it on the folding bench seats and got another mattress for the top bed.

The couches and table on the lower Happijac were so useless, heavy and a poor design that I pulled them out and sold them. I now use my own computer desk and lounge chair on the bottom.
