Ramp construction

The ramp on my 24' octane is too short for my '99 goldwing. mud up the tailpipe results. So I built a good 4'x4' ramp extension and it works well. But where to put it! It's fairly heavy and with the diamondback tonneau i'm about to buy for the truck, it'll be nasty getting it in and out there, The tailgate hits the propane tank cover so it only lowers part way. Not really enough room on the trailer floor. So I thought I could strap it to the inside of the trailer ramp which would put it where it's needed. But i don't want to go drilling holes willy nilly into the ramp only to find no meat behind the sheet metal. Anyone done this and knows a good place to tap for bolts?
