Warrantee work

Has anyone tried to get warranty work done through Jayco? I had an issue with my flooring the first time I took my unit out. I strapped my victory vision down drove about 3 hours to Ocean City MD. As I was maneuvering pulling out of the unit, I walk back in to collect my straps. I noticed that where my tires were sitting there were circular ripples from turning left and right to back out. The laminate flooring simply did not hold up to my motorcycle. When I reached out to my dealer who contacted Jayco, they denied my claim. Said they would not cover it. Since when is putting a bike in a toy hauler not normal wear and tear?

How much does your bike weigh? I haul an 1800 lb Kawasaki mule in my T31b and the floor holds up just fine.

The bike specs out around 900+ dry. 5 quarts of oil and 6 gallons of gas...just over a grand.

Almost appears like the bike may of slide as you were transporting it. Perhaps it wasn't tied down hard enough and allowed the bike to move creating the rippled floor.

Just a thought.

The contact patch on a full dresses motorcycle is much smaller than the 4 tires of a mule. The front tire has a lot of weight with a contact patch of not much larger than the palm of a woman's hand. No comparison. Still disapointion.

Contact Jayco directly. Get the info directly from Jayco. A lot of us on the forum here have heard different stories from what the dealer says and what Jayco says and does.
HOWEVER, from the photos, it looks like the bike was moving around while the trailer was in motion causing the rub wear on the floor.

Hard to tell from pics but I did not see any type of wheel chock in the area. Also did the rear tire sit where the flooring is actually gouged out and torn ? I have never hauled a scoot without a Pingle wheel chock but thats just me.

There was no disclaimer that said that I had to use aNY type of chock. Forgive me for my lack of experience but I simply strapped the MC to the floor. Had I know this would be the result I would have purchase one long ago.

Slowpoke, My comment was not to critise and I apologize if I came off that way. That is what I do not like about the internet, no one can tell someones inflection. If Jayco will not cover the damage I might consider installing a rubber "coin floor" or using a laminate in that area, Best of luck with whatever you decide. Once again I hope you will accept my apology if I came off the wrong way.

No offense taken! My choice of words are just an expression of my frustration. We are good like new Hushpuppies on old feet! Thanks for the concern...I'm a retired Jarhead...and skin don't get this thick normally! ;-)

I'm trying to understand the damage. It looks to me that the subfloor is fine, the laminate seems to have come loose.

Jayco is suggesting that is abuse not a manufacturing defect.

I would focus on what went wrong and why.

The views expressed may not be mine in five minutes.

I just have you know, it has been a big learning experience for me. I was pulling my T31B with my 2015 Silverado 6.2L crew cab with a max trailering package, air ride helper airbags with onboard compressor. She did her job, but my 1500 did make for way too many white knuckle experiences. I recently contacted a retired GM family member and made a new purchase for this season. 2017 2500HD duramax with a long bed. Getting pretty excited about some of my trips for this season.

Yeah, I purchased front wheel chock for this season. I'll see how that does and keep you posted.

I was wondering how the 1500 would do. The T31b is a big ass heavy trailer for a half ton. You will love the 3/4 ton. My Cummins pulls it with ease.

Semper Fi Slowpoke... I would also make sure you ratchet the bike till you compress the shocks. Much less chance for it to move

Good Luck !

I have a very similar piece of damage to my floor on my 2017 Octane 222. Mine is from the round foot base of the front tire chock. I actually had rubber mat under it and it still did this.

I then went to Orschelins and purchased a 1/4 rubber horse stall mat to place under the chock.

Yeah, can't wait to hear the verdict of how the matting worked. I haven't used the chock as of yet, and was considering some type of connectable matting. Works for workout rooms at the gym. It has to be the solution for this application. It would seem to be an accessory item that Jayco should offer just like the carpet. We can't be the only two with motorcycles that have had damage to our units due to cargo. A cargo mat option through Jayco at the time of purchase might be a solution to the b issue for most.

You aren't the only 2

Chock it up to 1st timer mistakes. Lol. I slightly damaged my floor as well. Placed the front wheel chock in the unit. Rode the Street Glide in. Chock moved slightly. Strapped the bike down and........left it in Neutral. What I've learned; place a rubber pad under the chock, strap the chock left and right, leave the bike in gear and strap the bike well. My flooring has pretty much fixed itself with the high heat these past few days. Wondering if I should use a hairdryer to soften the floor and smooth it out.
