What is the purpose of this

Went up to get the trailer from the dealer this weekend had a them store it and Winterize since had recall and a number of issues that would be covered by warranty. my question is this why? No work was done in the bathroom, and I thought you were supposed to have antifreeze in the bowl to help with keeping the seal from drying out?

Not sure what is up with the stick!

When we started out, I would put antifreeze in the bowl, and by spring it was total evaporated, but it left a little pink residue. Now I float a little mineral oil in the bowl and P-Traps, and they are always full in the spring.

That's just it as soon as went to remove it fell in luckily stick was long enough to not fall flat in the tank, but still had to get my hand in to reach with fingers to remove.

They were trying to keep the flush valve open for some reason.

Not a very sanitary (smell, bugs, etc.) thing to do leaving it open all winter...., plus chance of compromising the sealing characteristics to the flange.

Yeah, Would hate for someone to try to sit down in the dark.... oooooo...
By the way, you might want to make sure that stick didn't do any damage (crimping) of that rubber seal there. If you put water in there, it should stay there.
When I winterize, I put about 3 " of pink antifreeze in the bowel. In the spring, I still have 3 " of antifreeze in the bowel. Of course I treat the rubber seal with silicone o ring lubricant before putting in the antifreeze.

I did not check the seal but did run pump to push antifreeze into the bowl so will check today and see if still has any if I don't what is the prosess to replace seal?

Well, 1st, if the dealer put in that stick and the rubber seal is damaged, I would make them replace it.
It is a little process of removing the top bowel. Depending on the toilet type, this video may give you an idea.

Thanks RAurand for the video, I will not be taking this back to the dealer after them doing this and messing up the slide for no reason as well as stating all issues resolved only to drive the 5 hours to see half wasn't completed, so had to wait while they put the trailer back in their garage to finish so could take it.

Good help is hard to find. Try and find a local mobile tech that’s good and dependable then make friends.

Well good news doesn't look like any damage was done to the seal as the antifreeze is still in the tank. I just wish knew what reason they had to put it there when really didn't provide a clear view into the tank.

I'm guessing they put the stick in to hold the valve open while they blew out the water lines and forgot to remove it when finished. There is a tool for doing the same thing, but the stick was probably closer.

Mike, what is the purpose to keep valve open to blow out the lines couldn't they just open the valve with foot pedal could you elaborate, as I will be winterizing end of this season and not something aware of with keeping valve open

I use a stick for that too.

The stick keeps the water droplets from freezing and sticking the seal to the valve. The valve seals have been known to tear upon opening if closed for prolonged period during the winter. Even after the ice has melted.

Whew! I'm glad you posted, it makes sense in a very cold climate. One question of the op....Did he ask someone at the dealership why?

I did not as was frustrated with the issues they caused and not completing what they said they did when had the trailer for 5 months, I wish I would have.
