Batteries Ran Down - How Bad?

The dealer repair shop left my Jayco motorhome master switch on for too long while waiting for parts and the batteries ran down to the point that the switch's relay will not activate. They are almost new batteries.

Are there any battery experts out there who know how much lead-acid battery damage occurs when they are allowed to run down for a few days?

If they were my batteries, I'd replace them.

Whether the dealer does it out of their pocket, or you do it out of your's, is secondary.

They are NOT the same batteries you arrived with. I can't say how diminished they are, but that's certainly not how you or I would treat our batteries.

The dealer, if they're at all typical, will tell you to take a hike if you want them replaced.

Leaving the the switch on was at least nine yards of stupid. If I was going to leave my trailer at a dealer, I would remind them to disconnect the batteries, and call and check with them to make sure they did (not that they wouldn't lie).

If you were tasked with the job of finding a moronic scoundrel, you would do well to choose from a roomful of RV dealers.

PS
Okay, so yeah, I'd take them someplace and get them load tested first.

I will NEVER leave my Seneca at the dealer for longer than 2 days ever again.

If they ran them down below 10 volts, there a good chance they're damaged and toast. Only way to tell is to get some charge back into them and do a load test to see how they are.

The only way to know their true condition is to have them load tested but they most likely have suffered damage.
