battery tray wearing battery cables

Just a headsup. We just purchased a new 2020 Alante 29s. WIth the virus curtailing our travels, I spend most weekends puttering and getting to know the new toy. Being a long time boat owner and NEVER having enough batteries, as part of the my purchase, I asked the dealership to install a second battery. While inspecting the new install, I noticed that the sliding try was rubbing on the battery cables at the back of the tray and the battery cables would also occasionally catch on the tray slider preventing it from pulling out.

I've owned the RV less than a month and with only 1400 miles, there was already minor wear on the cables. Most of that mileage was the delivery BEFORE I even owned, thus I expect that in matters not with a 2nd battery. I had some plastic tygon tubing on hand so I slit it and then fitted over the several cables. Eventually, I will find a place to provide an appropriate method to lift and hang the cables.

Pictures of my one year old negative battery cable.

My 2019 34G negative battery cable. I just happened to notice it. It was rubbing against the sharp metal corner of the back of the battery tray. I smoothed out the sharp corner with a file and used a tie wrap to hold up the cable. Will have it replaced under warranty when I take it in.

Have them add split loom to the length of the cable (like is in your picture) and that'll help from any further chafing that may occur in the future.
