House batteries not charging: Alternator solenoid? 2003 Firenza

2003 Jayco Firenza Workhorse chassis

House batteries are not charging with the alternator.

I have looked for the solenoid, but I cannot find it. I cannot find a wiring diagram, or manual, or anything for it. No YouTube videos or anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you contacted JAYCO? They usually keep the schematics for 20 years. Trace the battery cables since it will be in that circuit between the house and chassis batteries.

Yes. A few times. Been a little slow with the engineer getting back to us. Just hoping someone here could help.

Unfortunately you have an ALBATROSS...they produced very few.

While waiting for Jayco, maybe we can help diagnose the issue.

Will they charge when connected to shore power? After changing on shore power, how long do the batteries last???

How old are the batteries? Have you checked the fluid levels, are they dry?

To find the solenoid you just need to trace the cable from your engine compartment. The cable from your chassis battery should be routed to the starter. It will also connect to the engine alternator somehow. Somewhere there should be an additional cable or may just be a heavy gauge wire connected to one of those locations - battery, alternator, or starter. There may be a junction block.

Once you locate this additional wire/cable, just follow it and it should lead to the solenoid. After that it will just be a matter of using a voltmeter to diagnose the charging issue.
