Low ground clearance

Hi everyone just looking for some quick info, I own a 2016 Jayco precept and anyone who owns one knows that they don't have a lot of ground clearance. We do a lot of boondocking and dry camping in state Forest, as you know it could be difficult to get off the road sometimes. I was wondering if anyone has looked into or has installed an air suspension that could gain three or four inch of clearance. I've looked into the Firestone air bags and most of the talk is about ride control and cushioning. But what I'm really looking for is to be able to get the back end off the ground a little more. Thanks in advance for any comments. Safe travels

22.5" wheels might be the cheapest route.

Look at your leveling jack ground clearance

My rear leveling jacks were hitting pavement when I encountered a short dip on some driveways and streets. Turns out they were mounted lower than spec. Dealer adjusted to spec under warranty, no more issues.

My Precept is also a 2016 with 22.5" wheels and it has enough ground clearance that I can crawl underneath anywhere along the length.

I would believe air bags would only get you body ground clearance and do nothing for the frame. Like lifting a Jeep, ground clearance is only meaningful if you can get the frame higher than stock. If you are running 22.5" wheels I'm not sure how much choice you will have with taller tires.

Nick, I have read here on the Forum that people that have installed Sumo Springs (which mount between the frame and the axle) have experienced a 1" lift but with the 35S has a 14' rear overhang with two slides back there so not sure if a 35S with Sumo's would help much.

Ground clearance is one problem I do not have with my Jayco Eagle 5th Wheel.

I’m with you Vicr, 1” isn’t much help and doubt if it would be noticeable on the 35S. That long extension behind the axle would drag if you start up a steep drive.

Saw your Ruger in another forum, very nice. I’m trading for one of those on Sunday.

Jayco can tell you the specification for ground clearance on your jacks. Mine dragged several times until I found they were installed too low. Dealer raised them to the correct height.

What goes on at Quartsite?
