Propane leak

I have a 2019 Jayco Allante 26. I cannot light the pilot of my oven I didn’t think it was lit before but now I’m smelling propane it makes me wonder. Does the pilot light of the oven also work for the stove? I’ve tried a number of times to light it but to no avail. Anybody have any tips?
And if it’s not the pilot light of the oven what else do you think it could possibly be? I Use my RV for work so it is always in use. It has not been in storage or set for a while. This just started happening.
I have looked in the manual and oven brochure but I still can’t figure it out Thank you in advance.

No. The pilot light does not work for both if you have the common three burner stove. The oven is a different flame.

If you have everything off and smell gas shut the system down you have a dangerous situation. You need to have someone troubleshoot the system if you have a gas smell with nothing turned on.

You didn't mention the brand of stove you have, but check this older thread on the same issue.

Check the control knobs on all of your gas appliances. Fortunately a gas leak is rare. Resist the impulse to light a cigarette and think about the problem. Instead open all your windows.

I would add that Propane is heavier than air, if you smell gas I would suggest opening the door(s) as well as the windows and rooftop vents in order to help reduce the gas vapors from the floor level. If the smell was\is strong, I would counter what TaftCoach recommended with a different recommendation of not to turn on anything electrical, especially if your gas detector was\is sounding. ~CA

I know this post is a few days old, so I am not sure if you have your problem resolved yet or not.

With your MH aired out, I suspect the issue is with lighting the oven's pilot light.

Not sure what oven your Atlanta has, but am assuming it is like most TTs. You have to manual light the pilot. Have you ever used the oven before? I am going to take a guess not. Again you have to manually light it, with a match or a fire stick (my preferred choice). In the back of the oven at the main burner there is a small tube, that bends down. You will need to be on your hands and knees to see it, while looking upwards. That is the pilot, and it has to be manual lite. The little piezo for the stove top burners does not light it. Turn the oven to "Pilot", push the oven control knob in for a few (5-10) seconds before it will light. I tend to have to hold the the knob in for a few more seconds while the thermal couple warms up. Once it is lite it will stay lite, until you turn the oven knob to off.

When done cooking we always turn the oven completely off, so we always have to lite the pilot every time we use it.

FYI, if you have never used the oven before, the first time you light it, it may stink for 30+ minutes as it burns off any of the manufacturing oils used in its construction.

I hope this helps.

Search the form for any stove recalls. I remember a dometic stove gas leak recall that was posted.

One problem we have experienced is accidentally bumping the burner knobs. They are easy for an adult to turn one on inadvertently or a child who does not know better.
Always make sure they are off before leaving.
