safe to drop overhead bunk half-way?

Anyone making the passenger seat with pullout laptop table as mini office? and have a curtain (sound proof) separating from living room?

Is it safe for overhead bunk to drop half-way(750 lbs weight rating, suppose two adults sleep there) so that there is enough room for others to sit in driver/passenger seats below the bunk?

I have turned my passenger seat into an office, but I do not have a curtain to separate that space from the living room. As for the overhead, I see no issue with using it halfway down vs all the way down. The support mechanism is its attachment to the top, so the weight rating is the same regardless of its position. My only concern is halfway down may not have enough room for the adults to feel comfortable and be able to turn over/sit up, etc.

Can you lock the overhead bunk half-way for safety? If anything gets loose, it may drop suddenly.

No but it does have a key to operate it for safety, so once you have it where you want it, you can remove the key. The way its designed, if the straps break its coming down. But its held up by 4 seatbealt type straps.
