Thanks for this post. We bought a used 2017 Precept which was still equipped with the yellow mesh sock! It's gone now.

Took our Precept in for some warranty service and guess what they found? Yep, the yellow sock. Took the rig back out on the road over New Year's and no over heated doghouse....what a difference it made.

Turns out we had this sock on our 2020 Precept 31UL....Recall was sent out while our rig was in shop for warranty work...no overheating issues with our doghouse next trip out..amazing.

Our Precept is in the shop right now (just one month after we took possession; we don't even have tags for her yet!), and I'm wondering if we need to ask them to check for this, too. Is this still a forgotten item on the assembly line punch list?

Not anything I would panic over but yes, you could ask them to check as its an easy visual thing to look for without even opening the "hood".

Thank you. I'll call our contact tomorrow and ask them to look for this, too.

remind them....however this is now a recall item. Our maintenance center caught it because of the recall. The rig is a lot happier...dog house does not get quite as warm now...

yellow mesh

I removed yellow mesh from air filter,, but kept it and I put back on when storing for a month or two. hopefully keeps mice & small critters out.

My 2019 34G had the sock. I removed it. Honestly I can’t imagine that thing changed the airflow in any measurable way. I removed it because the recall said to remove it.

For this reason I was a little bummed that our '23 Precept 34G didn't have the sock still on it when we took delivery. I was thinking about buying something like this net/screen on Amazon to serve the same purpose when the unit is not being used for longer periods of time.

Thanks Grumpy. Your tip worked and I just posted a question. Have a great day! Dale (PS we live in Delaware, but bought a Precept near Orlando, so went ahead and spent a week in Disney's Camp Wilderness. Had a great time!)
