Waterheater Trouble Shooting Tips?

I have a 2017 Alante 31V, w/ a 6 Gallon Water Heater. It keeps faulting and will not ignite. I have 1/3 tank of Propane available. The fridge and stove operate fine. I am going to fill the propane tank when I get home from work, and then troubleshoot. What are the steps and things I should check ?

Make sure you are getting propane to the water heater. You can loosen the connection at the water heater to see if propane is flowing- be careful- you will have a possible hazard if you let it flow too much! Ours did the same thing on our Pinnacle and I traced it to the supply hose being pinched off as they ran the hose UNDER the water heater and the weight pinched the hose. Also make sure there aren't any blockages in the burner fuel line. Little critters/bugs like to make nests in there.

There are a lot of posts about bad boards and electronic issues.

But mine has always been dust/spider webs/ whatever in the pilot light area.

Now I carry computer air blast in the tool bin and have plastic toothpicks in the car. Scratch around with the plastic to loosen anything then blast it out with the little straw on the end of the air blast can!

Also check you have the proper pressure. If you have low pressure it will not light. We found that to be a problem for ours even though all other propane appliances still seemed to be working OK. Pressure regulators are frequently known to fail.

Can you hear the igniter clicking? If not, it may be bad or the control board may be bad.

I believe I'm hearing the igniter click 3 times / cycles before it faults. I'm hoping it's just that I need to clean the thing out w/ air and a toothpick.

I took 10 gallons of water propane so I was very low. It still faulted so I hit it with compressed air. She fired right up on the next attempt. Thanks everyone!

Where the 10-pin connector on the igniter board is. There is a white wire that runs has DC voltage. If you use a voltmeter and measure DC voltage at that white wire but no voltage at the yellow wire. The board is bad. If no voltage on the white wire but voltage on the yellow wire, it is the relay!

RIP_OFF! Called Camping world to ask their price on this igniter board.... $299.99.... GASP!!!! Humph, I can get it on AMAZON for $128.99
