Winterizing trouble

Hi all!
I am new to this forum and am also completely green when it comes to RVing! I have a Jayco Alante 2018 and unfortunately I find that the water filter has frozen and broken off. (Early snow here in Alberta!)
I carried on regardless in my (?) belated attempt to winterise and was very proud of myself for putting valves in “winterise” position and reversing small valve at hose connection. When I turned on the pump, however, I found that the antifreeze was not moving!!
Is this because I should have the water filter connected?
(By the way, does anyone order these online or should I trek back to the dealer for a new filter?)
Any help would be much appreciated as it’s getting colder daily here!
Thanks

Sorry I can't answer all your questions. But on mine the winterize position runs all incoming water (or anti freeze) thru the filter. That's why I remove the filter and add anti freeze to canister first. It makes the process quicker. I believe you can get a new filter housing at hardware store. Make sure your antifreeze container is not on the ground and hold it high in the water compartment. This helps it prime faster.

Thanks for the advice Hawkster. Much appreciated.
I’ll get a filter and try again( this time with pink stuff elevated)
Thanks very much.
