Greyhawk sofa and dinette upgrades

Tiring of the fake leather peeling off the dinette and sofa cushions, we fixed both. A 58” RecPro loveseat recliner replaced the old sofa/bed contraption. Also recovered/replaced the dinette cushions. Both turned out well.

And a special shout-out for RecPro. A couple of weeks after installing the new loveseat I noticed a pop-up on their web site for 5% off if you signed up with your email address. Thinking I had nothing to lose I emailed and asked if I could get that discount retroactively. Two days later I was very pleasantly surprised to receive a note that they had refunded that amount to my credit card! Excellent customer relations on their part.

thanks. . There are a number of threads on RecPro upgrades for the Greyhawk. I looked at it however there are some recent comments about the quality of the seats after a couple of years of use.

Question for you… looking to do the same with recliners, and when I went to look at what I was getting into I discovered a box under the sofa. Hadn’t opened it as I lacked the time to dig into it and another poster noted it was (I believe) a cover for a junction. He had it smaller, but I was wondering if there is clearance underneath The recliners to accommodate?

The Q&A on RecPro’s site for this recliner says there is not enough clearance for any raised box.

As my pic shows, there was nothing on the slide floor beneath my location. I was able to put down a 3/4” plywood base since the new recliner frame hung over the edge of the slide bas.

Fabric warranty is three years. Will post back if there is a wear problem.

Thanks for the good info. We are planning to replace our loveseat and also recover the dinette panels in our 2010 Greyhawk 31FK. A couple of questions plz.
What year, style and length is your RV. To see if the dimensions of loveseat might match ours as I am not near where we keep it stored and cannot measure it. My wife is very handy as a seamstress and wants to recover the dinette panels.
Were the panels difficult to remove and disassemble? Anybody else having answers to my question can also chime in plz. Thanks.

Our RV is a 2014 Greyhawk 31FK. What length do you mean? The RecPro 58” Charles model we purchased was about the only one we could find that fit into the existing width opening of the original sofa. I think our total width was 61”. Your 2010 model may be a different width, though.

The dinette cushion covers just unzip for removal. We ordered replacements from Cushion Source in Montgomery, Alabama. They look much better than the original flaking fake leather.

Thanks for your reply with more great info on the cushion covers. But I was trying to also ask about the ability to recover the fake leather back supports on each side of the dinette area. Did you recover that by disassembling the frame in any way?

We did not redo the fake leather backs. They are in decent shape.

Just pulled out the jackknife to install two recliners and I can’t figure out if these wires are for lights or to the slide out. Anyone have any experience with this in a 2012 greyhawk 31SS?

I believe that goes to the 12v lighting in the slide. In any case, you should be able to leave it in place as the recliners will keep it out of view. Just route the wires around the back of the recliner's framework. ~CA

I didn't really investigate that wire, but I suspect you're right. That's the only power requirement in that slide. I installed the same 58" Recpro recliners as Roamer and went with the powered ones. Man, what a nice upgrade that was!

I hired out the install so I'm not sure what they used. I would just use 1/4" X 1" bolts. The only critical part would be the length so they don't interfere with the operation of the slide. There's an inch of insulation under the slide so between the added plywood, the existing plywood, and the insulation, there should be no problem getting it fastened down securely.

That works. Those recliners will definitely stay put.

You could consider to do what I did (31SS), remove the dinette booth and table and then re-install the table to front of the slide where the sofa was. Then install the dual recliner where the dinette booth was located which is a wider platform to start with. This worked out well for us but it is only two of us.
We use two comfortable folding dinette table chairs now at the table when we use the table. ~CA
