LED light strip - how to attach to TT?
A couple of weeks ago I installed an LED light strip under the awning. Spent a few hours figuring out how to run the wiring and where to mount the control box. This morning the Bride and I go to the storage lot to prep for our Disney trip and I find the strip hanging by its wires. The sticky backing on the strip isn’t up to the task.
Looking for recommendations on what to use to stick it to the trailer side.

The best automotive attachment tape I have found in years of doing collision repair is "3M Automotive Trim Tape". There is also a "primer" pad that I would use. Any large auto supply store should carry various widths of the tape. Hope this helps.

Do you know what adhesive you used? I would consider 3M VHB, it is used for lots of things including holding on autobody trim. May need to clean, and add a primer for best adhesion.

The LED strip I added to a Jayflight SLX 185RB went into the bottom of drip channel and was secured by clamping action as well as 3M double side tape under awning. Only problem was getting power to it, poked a hole in the side at the rear of the trailer, ran wires through a channel between closet and cabinet then to existing porch lite on the side. It had a remote and controller to modify patterns and RGB sequencing.

When applying the tape clean the area first with alcohol to ensure good adhesion.

The light strip had a peel-n-stick adhesive but didn’t hold up to the heat/humidity.
I have a roll of the 3M trim adhesive and considered using that. Do you think it’d have to be continuous or could I put a piece every 3” or so?
Thanks for all the input!
The wiring went pretty smooth. From the awning roller I followed the factory wiring for the roller and went inside by making a hole next to the factory hole.
That led to a space behind the BR dresser. The wires there dropped thru a hole into the basement at the front wall and across the ceiling to the back wall. I mounted the controller to the back wall and was able to tap into a 12V source and had easy access to a grounding buss. I had already mounted my TPMS booster on the same wall and figured out the power/ground. I attached the IR remote to the wall next to the controller with stick on Velcro (using the “hook” part) and it grabs the fuzzy wall material in the basement real nice.
I was thinking that I really knew what I was doing....
Then the strip fell off

Do not 'gap' the tape, the light ribbon will sag. Continuous contact only.

Yeah, I can see your point and agree. Continuous it is.
Thanks, kblast and everyone else who responded!

I have same problem, thinking of doing the same thing applying 3m auto tape but my concern is how do you remove the light strip in the future when this light strip starts to burn out like the factory strip has on my TT?

The 3M double sided tape will come off fairly easily with a little heat and a plastic putty knife. I always 'rolled' it off, once started it's fairly easy to remove. You end up with a neat roll if it stays together.

You need the adhesion promoter (primer)
https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...nstallsupplies
I used that with mine and had no issues. My lights were backed with 3M adhesive as well.
