Looking for thread about swapping rv fridge for a residential fridge

I’m interested in swapping my rv fridge for a residential one. We are parked seasonal and with 4 kids the extra space is much needed. I’m sure I’ve seen a thread on here before about doing this mod. I’ve searched but was unable to find it.

If you click on the custom Google search in my sig, it will take you to a better search tool for the forum. Just enter the key words needed in the top left block and you may find it better than the forum search.

An alternative would be to use a gazebo type outside enclosure and just put a cheap residential fridge [what ever size you want[. That way you still have the rv fridge inside and the extra storage in the fridge outside. No one is going to steal your fridge and if concerned could fabricate a way to lock the door to protect the food.

Replacing the rV fridge is not much more complicated than removing it and see what size space you have. Then find a fridge that fits or cut back counters and or cabinets. ON a newer RV I would go with the outside alterhative.

My buddy has a small dorm frig sitting on his deck, he has no cover, it is exposed to the weather all summer. He's been doing this for years.

His RV frig died this spring. He found a Dorm frig at Walmart that was slightly taller (maybe an inch). He modified the trim to make it fit. He did remove the insulation from the wall panels, as the frig needed room to breath. It fits nicely, and there is a lot interior space.
