No CAT scales anywhere near me.
Yep that's the one Kim, it recognizes the VIN automatically and "knows" all the particulars of the vehicle when you plug into the OBD port. I tested it by standing on my hitch and it showed my weight within 7 Lbs of my actual weight and it does, when properly calibrated, show all of the other weights and parameters listed pretty accurately. Last year, for piece of mind, I tested the numbers from the module against a CAT scale and found them within the +/- 5% range Curt states in the ad. I have used it many a time to make load adjustments, saves time and instills confidence that I'm towing safely.

You can use a tongue scale, just google it.

you don't need a cat scale if there is a farm elevator that will weigh you. Mine weighed my car, trailer, front axle hitched up with wdh and tongue weight ( 4 passes, took a while) and refused to charge me anything. Do it on the off season, not while the corn and beans are coming in.
