New owner

Just bought a 2021 Jay flight slx 174 bh. We own a 2017 Chevy Colorado.

Wondering if we are on right track with brake controller and weight hitch.

Any advice would be great.

If you stay within the load limits of the trailer the 600 lb bars on the wdh should be good. I have no experience with the wireless brake controller all of mine have been hardwired. So I am no help with that.

Thanks! Yes the guy at RV place didn’t really know either but I think we will try due to good reviews.

Welcome!

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with those systems. Hopefully the good reviews hold true in your experience.

Enjoy the journey.

I am unfamiliar with the smart phone brake controller. Seems a bit overboard, but I am a dinosaur.

I'd be more inclined to go with a tried & true brake controller like this:

As for your choice of WDH, you may find it easier to find one that includes sway control with out the friction controller in your Eaz- Lift you are considering.

The size of your trailer would be excellent with the Andersen WDH, in my opinion!

I have the Tekonsha Prodigy Wireless controller. I preferred the hand controller that plugs in to your 12 power outlet over using the phone. I really don't need to find out my truck warranty is about to expire right as I need to use my brake controller. I used ours when descending the Big Horn Mountains in the snow on 14A heading to Yellowstone last September, I was glad it was laying in my lap and I could reach down and grab it and brake if I needed to. It is a better system if you only have one trailer with brakes. As for the WDH I got what the dealer had in stock that day

I tow my 174BH with a Tacoma and use the wireless brake controlloer that you're using. It works great. It took a trip or 2 to play around with the sensitivity and whatnot, your settings might be different with a different truck. It was definitely the easiest solution since I didn't have to install anything in the dash.

Welcome to the forum, regarding your brake controller, doesn't the 2017 Colorado have a factory installed brake controller? Mine does. ~CA
