Generator appropriate for Jayco Swift 145

OMG, you guys - I'm making myself crazy! Hubby and I recently purchased a Swift 145, and are excitedly looking forward to this year's camping season. I'm researching "the right kind of generator for a small TT," and my head is spinning like a top. I don't really understand the magic that is electricity, and I don't know anything about generators. All I know is that I want a "gizmo" that makes stuff light up and GO when I push the buttons inside the TT. My biggest concern is the 5000 btu wall mounted a/c.

(As an aside, hubby is "engineer type" person and always handled this type is stuff. But he had a stroke a few years ago. He's doing great, all things considered, but he can no longer focus on this kind of research, so it falls to me.)

Sooo... Having said all that, can some kind person please please cut thru all the variables for me and tell me what, exactly, I should buy?

Parameters: the generator will be used to occasionally run the a/c (not very often, only on seriously hot humid nights). And to charge phones, iPads, wifi booster, etc. It should be as inoffensively quiet as possible. It should be easy to start, preferably with a remote starter. It should be as light weight as possible, as we'll have to heft it in & out of the pickup bed. And it should be basically idiot proof because, as stated earlier, the brain in the family had a stroke and that leaves... me. We have about $1k (preferably less) to spend.

Help? Anyone? Asking for a straight up BUY THIS recommendation. Thanks so much in advance.

We have a Honda EU2000i that does for us what you want
It will not run the micro at the same time as the AC
We can talk next to it
It weighs 46 lbs without fuel
Ours does not have a remote starter

As Kim said a 2000 watt generator will fit your needs. But make sure you buy an inverter generator, they put out cleaner power that your electronics will like, they are quieter than non inverter generators which your camping neighbors will love. Honda and Yamaha are the top brands and of course cost more, guess it depends how many times you will be using it each season. There are other brand inverters for half the cost if money is a concern. Honda is coming out with a new model EU2200i next month that will give you a little more power for the same cost as the current EU2000i.

Since you have a 5000 BTU a 2000 watt generator will do and are very light to handle. Champion has the 2000 watt Generator/Inverter Think around 38 lbs. You also can double up with those generator/inverters to almost double the output. They are over half the price of Honda or Yamaha. The Champion service is great. Just search for Champion Generator/Inverter and you get all the answers you need.
Happy camping Hubby and You.

The 38lb Champion 2000 watt is not out until May. We have the following Champion 2000 watt which is about 48lbs:

https://smile.amazon.com/Champion-Po...rter+generator

This one will run the 8000-btu A/C in our 195RB so no issues for the 5000-btu A/C. We've used it two seasons now with no issues. Very happy with both price and performance.

I also have a 145 and my Honda 2000 with a 3 gallon extended run gas tank thus I can run the /ac all day on 1.5 gallons.

I love our Honda EU2000i (x2). They are on the expensive side, but I do not intend to buy another generator in my life.

You can look it up on Amazon

I don’t know how durable it is
