Tow vehicle

I'm just curious. It looks like we're getting more ultralite owners on. I have a Jayco 154BH and tow it with a 1989 Ford Ranger 4x4 V6 automatic and my trailer says its about 3500# loaded. What's everyone else using?

I don't have an ultra lite but I do have an 88 Ford Ranger V6 with 2wd and automatic. At times I have towed our 10' flat trailer with a Yamaha Rhino on it. The Rhino is around 1300#. In my opinion it just dosn't have enough power to tow much of anything.

We tow our 29' Jayfeather with a 2003 E250 w/tow package. It has been good for us to date.

I hear all the time the smaller ultra lights/swifts being towed by minivans but im sure they are struggling with the wind resistance and also Im wondering how the ride/tow is with a FWD vech. anyone experience this?

I towed a 2003 Antigua 195CK with a 2001 Ford Windstar and absolutely loved the combination, it was VERY stable and the Windstar had plenty of power out of the V6 to pull that camper anywhere we wanted.

The Ford Ranger has a 2.9 liter V6. Most people that responded have larger engines than the Ranger. Newer rangers have an available 4.0 V6.

Mine is the 2.9 also. I don't tow in OD and if possible, I tow on highways instead of Interstates in order to avoid 70mph towing. Wind resistance seems too bad and I get some sway. The setup seems pretty happy at 55-60mph on the highway though.
