Flooded vs AGM

Hi everyone,
I am replacing my battery in the 25rb.
We rarely!!!!! Boondock, but know we will for a couple nights on our next trip.
We have a generator.
I’m having difficulty convincing myself to spend the 1/3 - 1/2 more for an AGM battery.
Lithium is not an option.
Is getting the AGM really worth it over standard flooded?
Thanks

I went AGM when I replaced my battery. Biggest thing about them, they are a maintenance free battery. Other than that, I don't see a big deal. I've had zero issues with them in the last 3 years.

With a flooded battery you should check the fluid levels every few months, and add distilled water as needed.

Be aware the charging profile for AGM is different from flooded. Make sure your charger has the capacity to switch between the different types.

I replaced my 2 flooded batteries with 1 Renogy 100 amp hour battery about 6 months ago. Totally maintenance free, less tongue weight and my converter works just fine to keep it charged. Glad I made the switch, bought it from Amazon.

If you have flooded now and are going to upgrade the cost to upgrade to lithium is no greater than AGM and the lithium will outlast the AGM multiple times over and the benefit of using almost 100 % of the capacity before having to recharge

That's why I bought a Li battery. Replacing my SLA, I was looking at AGMs as I'm a huge fan of them for starting batteries in my vehicles. Found I could get a 100AH Li battery for LESS money than an AGM, plus be able to use nearly ALL of those 100AH, instead of only half of that available in an AGM.

I'm currently working out whether I can get away with just throwing it in place of the SLA that's in there being that I have a motor home. I apparently need one additional piece of kit to protect my alternator. I got kind of a steal on the battery and just jumped in on it.

If it was a travel trailer, it would have been done already, just plug and play. With full knowledge that my currently installed converter would take a LONG time to bring the Li up to a full charge. But that's okay, I so rarely need a full charge anyway, it should all be fine.

Bob I'm guessing you already know but in case you require a BIM {Battery Isolation Manager} Also for those installing lithium in motorized rvs to save your alternators from over heating

Yup, that's the "thingy" I'm going to need.

Really eats away at the short-term cost savings I was looking at. Long-term it's still better though.
