Furnace acting up

Last night I turned the furnace on and set the new digital thermostat to kick it in. I would here a click from the furnace as it attempted to light but it wouldn't. About every 5 seconds or so I could hear the click.

This morning I decided to try it again and it clicked and ran perfectly until the Jayco hybrid came up to temp. When the thermostat again called for heat, it just did the click thing again and would not light. Any ideas?

I have a 2006 19h.

Was last night the first time in a while that you used the furnace? If it was then it could be it was trying to start but to much air in the lines to purge before it timed out.

Try it a few more times to see if it ignites each time. If it does, all good. If it fails intermittently than do some research and watch a couple youtubes. Your furnace could have a failing sail switch, igniter, board problem, low voltage, low LP pressure, etc.

Yes, last night was the first time in a while that we used the furnace. But this morning it started right up and ran perfectly for about 20-30 minutes until the thermostat stopped calling for heat. So I think I'm at the sail switch, or board problem or intermittent igniter or gas valve. I hear the relay click. And I what I think is the igniter. But no sound of the gas igniting. Thanks.

Quick follow up. I put the old thermostat back in place. The furnace now runs perfectly. I went back to the Amazon page for the digital thermostat I bought. I again read through the comments, including my own about how that thermostat works great in RVs. But I did run across one comment which said the unit wouldn't work without the batteries. Now I think perhaps the three AAA batteries were close to dead. The display worked fine, which I thought is all the batteries are for. I'll be reinstalling the thermostat with new batteries in the future. I was close to calling in a service tech.

Definitely sounds like the sail switch to me...same symptoms as we had last year when ours failed....probably dirty ... you can try to blow air through it... not much to those sail switches ... but not made well at all..durability wise...I keep two on hand now cause I know any day now the one that's in will go bad....

Thanks Topperace. So far it is working perfectly with the old thermostat. But I'll keep the sail switch in mind if I have more problems.
