I have a High Pointe convection microwave, 2019 model 1801M. It started to trip the circuit breaker when the door is closed. I viewed the YouTube video on repairing the door switches that cause the problem. But that’s not something I want to do myself.
Question, will a regular appliance repair person work on it? Would a RV repair tech be qualified to repair?
Have any of you had experience with an RV warranty company covering this brand of microwave?
Many microwaves are made such that they are difficult to repair. It appears that a replacement switch is available. Do a google search for appliance repair shops in your area and see if any of them work on microwaves.
If they do, be sure to ask what their minimum charge would be to look at it. It may be less expensive to buy a new one.
My thought is that if a switch like that fails on many similar ovens that the issue isn't with the switch and instead is with the design of the oven's circuitry. I would replace the oven however, if you have a warranty I would suggest to go that route first for sure. ~CA
