Refridgerator Fan

Our 'fridge is working well, and I'd like it to stay that way. I've been looking at those cooling fans available on eBay for $40 give or take.

Looked to me like they're a 120mm fan with a temperature switch. Well, as a professional nerd, I happen to have a few 120mm fans lying around.

And a temperature controlled switch was a few bucks on Amazon.

Looks like this will be a fun project for someone who's got some extra time on their hands these day.

Now you just need to add a LED signal light inside the coach so you know when the fan is turned on

Looks good. Can you adjust the temperature when it turns on/off?

Yeah - there are a handful of Youtube videos where someone has decoded the Chinese to adjust the temperature settings.

Quite a few adjustments. Third picture down on Amazon shows the various settings:

There's an audible alarm setting, but I think I'll leave that off!

Yeah, I'm wondering what a good value is for the On/Off setting. Default looks like on at 30*C and off at 28*C. I'm wondering if an on value of closer to 40*C would be more useful. I got to think it's pretty toasty in that cabinet most of the summer.

Fan says 0.2A on the label.

Both of mine are thermal sensors that are strapped to a metal pipe in the coolant system. They are always powered when the fridge is on and only run when the pipes get hot. I have no idea what temp the switch operates to turn them on.

One is up in the cooling area between the bottom and top vent. It was factory installed. Both blow up to help the draft.

Thanks Norty. I'll play around with them and see how they turn out. We rarely boondock, so electrical usage isn't a huge concern for me. The sensor looks like it's on a two foot lead, give or take.

I'll stuff it up as high as I can and just play around with it.
