Running Gear/Suspension and Tire Upgrades

Not sure if I am posting this in the correct spot, if not, feel free to move it if needed.

I have a 174BH TT. The trailer is a 2019, bought in 2018. Next year we are making a run from Charleston, SC to New Orleans for a week-long adventure. Since I am a preventive maintenance freak, I am thinking about upgrading the springs and maybe tires on the trailer.

I have noticed the original springs are starting to flatten a tad and I have always thought they were a little too soft for the trailer anyway. The trailers gross is supposed to be 3,750 pounds. I was thinking of swapping the springs to something rated at 4,000 just to firm it up a little bit.

I normally replace tires at the 5-year mark but since we are making this run, I don't see why it could not hurt to replace them a year early. Then I have two new on the ground and three spares to carry just in case. The trailer has Goodyear Endurance tires on it and so far, they have been great.

Does anyone have suggestions on quality running gear replacements?

I have thought about going a little bigger on the tires but I would have to lift the trailer to do that so I probably won't go that route.

So anyway, just looking for recommendations on what you guys have had good luck with.

First I would take to a scale and get some numbers on your rig - loaded for travel. That may give you a good reference for what you need to do.

If you plan to do the work yourself there are lots of places you can source the springs and any other upgrades you want on the suspension as you will have to pull the whole thing apart.

I take my rig to Pro Tech on Dorchester Rd for suspension inspection and have recently been referred to Charleston Frame and Wheel just off Cross County Rd for some frame repairs to a equalizer bracket. Both are good sources if you can't do the work any more, like me.

eTrailer is a good source for parts and advice also.

Before writing a check, take a look at trailer helper springs. May turn out to be the right answer to your spring 'problem'. In my experience, nothing comes apart.
