The manufacture used so much lubricant on the internal O rings that when exposed to the sun the lubricant melted and clogged up the screen. Cleaned it all up and now I have a spare!

Interesting. I bought one last season and it only worked 2 trips. Then it let the pressure rise. I’ll take mine apart and check for gunk.

Are these needed

I have an outside canister filter that is connected to an "On The Go" water softener then water goes through the in-house filter. So would the water pressure regulator be needed?

The clogged screen would cause the pressure to drop, not rise. However, it would still be good to take it apart and check it out.

Water filters do not regulate the water pressure. I always use a pressure regulator.
