GM Fifth Wheel Wiring Provisions

7-Way Wiring Provisions on a 2015 2500HD Silverado.

I understand the wire harness is located behind the rear license plate.

My questions for you GM owners is what brand and model number of the 7-way connector did you install in the side of your box for your fifth wheel. There are many available from all the manufactures and I was hoping to narrow it down by some feedback.

Thanks

This was my choice. It T's off the existing bumper mounted 7 pin.

My understanding is with the "Wiring Provision" option on the 2015 Silverado is that the wire harness for a 5th wheel connection is already there under the bed attached to the frame. But the actual connector with the flip door is something that needs to be purchased. What do others recommend purchasing in this case when you don't need the harness itself?

The GM cam0er/5th wheel harness is under the front of the box on the drivers side. I had to hook the one up for the slide-in camper. I installed a hoppy connector n it. I am going to install the standard connector with the door on that harness as I do not always have the camper in the box. Then I will use a short male-male connector to connect from truck to camper.

FYI - GM now (2015) puts the 5th Wheel wiring provision OPTION right behind the rear license plate spooled up and attached to the frame member above the spare tire. This wiring harness is nothing speacial and the end of it is just bare wires taped up. So you don't want an OEM 7-Way connector, you want one that comes apart and has the screw terminals. I have also verified that it will require a 2" hole saw to make the hole in the side of your box for mounting. I chose a Pollak 12-707 Plastic 7-Way Socket from Amazon. You don't need to buy the wiring harness if you have this GM option.
