Help needed to pick a hitch
Trailer is Jayflight 2021 195RB with 3750lbs max and Ford F-150 with 2.7 EcoBoost. Undecided between Equalizer E4 and Curt TruTrack. They come in many weight choices and need to figure that out as well

Welcome to the Forum from Western New York State!
We have the Equalizer 10,000/1000lb hitch for our 2012 19RD Jay Flight, and it works well. If you have any thoughts of up-sizing TTs in the future, get a WDH that's going to accommodate it now, so you don't need to buy a heavier one when the time comes.
You're going to get a lot more thoughts from other members that own different brands of hitches, and why they like them.

Ive been told by someone that a WDH rated for too much weight will give a stiff ride. Any idea what that’s about?

At minimum you want a 600 lbs bar.
Unless you are going crazy on a way oversized bars. It won't change the ride. FYI with a tt on board, you will feel it on some roads, there is no getti past it.

You may or may not get that sensation, depending on how well it's set up for your trailer. Ideally, you would want it and your TV loaded like you're going on a trip, but dealers set them up with an empty trailer and TV at the dealership. There are adjustments that can be made to fine tune the installation a bit, and make the ride more civilized, while still stable. Those will be listed in the instructions, so be sure to get them if you're not doing the install. That'll come in handy if you change trailers, or tow vehicles.
The manufacturers can't make a hitch rated for every different tongue weight, so they offer stages of ratings, like a tongue weight up to 600, 800, 1000, 1200, and 1400 lbs, as an example. You pick one that's not under rated for your unit, but not way too heavy either.

NockOn,
Welcome to JOF
Between the Curt TruTrack WDH and the Equal-i-zer E4 WDH, I lean toward the Equal-i-zer. E4
I would at least size the WDH to handle loaded conditions at 195RB's GVWR of 3,750lbs. A recommend 13% to 15% of (gross weight) 3,750lbs gives you a 488lbs to 563lbs loaded tongue weight range...., thus a WDH rated at 600lbs minimum.
Check the 195RB's A-frame for any WDH rating 'limit' restriction sticker..., some lighter single axle TT's may have them.
For further reference, the following JOF thread may be helpful at the CAT scale for confirming your weights and WDH adjustment:

So we look at the tongue weight rating not the trailer weight itself?

I don’t have access to the trailer until the day I pick it up and need to pick a hitch that day.

Another vote for the Equalizer 4-point weight distribution hitch with anti-sway. We have the 10k (1000lb tongue) model. As someone else mentioned, you need at least the 6000lb/600lb model, but I too suggest you buy the 10,000/1,000 lb model. You will definitely buy another, bigger, trailer (not because of what you have but because that's the way the camping addiction works). It won't adversely change your ride to a noticeable degree.

Always look at both WDH specified ratings (Tongue Weight/Trailer Weight)...., and should be able to accommodate worst case scenario of TT under 'loaded' conditions at it's GVWR and a 15% loaded tongue weight of same GVWR.
