Truck Shocks

Not sure which forum to put this in. Hopefully this will do. I own a GMC Sierra Diesel 2500HD with about 100,000 miles on it. Never replaced the original factory shocks. I also occasionally pull a 26 ft Jayco fiver. Anyone recommend a good front and rear shock for this truck? Any help here would be appreciated.

How much is your budget? I would go with KONI's, but they are not cheap.

Big fan of the Bilstens. Sounds like we might have similar trucks.

I still have the original Bilsteins on my 2010 Tundra. 131,000 miles on them, and still working.

I put Bilstein's on my 99 Cummins. Couldn't really tell any difference in ride because that truck rode like a lumber wagon to begin with. I did recently put a set of them on my 01 Yukon XL at 135k. What a difference in ride they made in that. Fox makes some REALLY nice shocks. They are expensive but you get what you pay for. I ran Fox shocks on snowmachines and compared to stock ones was night and day.

I’ve run Bilstein and Rancho’s. The Bilstein were a stiff shock unless I had a Lot of weight on them, unloaded the ride was somewhat rough. The Rancho’s were adjustable so ideally I could “adjust” them for the particular conditions or load…riiight! I initially adjusted them but never again felt the desire to crawl under the truck and readjust them. If you don’t regularly adjust them the dial will freeze in place. So I started researching other options of course Fox pops up but I had them on my Jeep and well wasn’t impressed. I pulled them and put Ori Struts and haven’t looked back, however, they’re not a realistic option for my truck. I found KYB MONOMAX shocks. They are founded in the Japanese Heavy industry so I figured I’d try them. They have been great so far, unloaded ride is better than the Bilstein by far. If I have the 5er or enclosed gooseneck they handle the load very well. I have approximately 15K miles on them and at this point I would run them again.
