Broken bathroom skylight

Cleaning snow off my roof and hit it.

Been watching YouTube video’s, but thought I’d check here to see if anyone has had the pleasure of doing this already? Man is that thing weak, broke with very little pressure.

I have a ‘20 x23b.

Assuming the “break” doesn’t mean half the skylight is missing it can probably be patched to where it can last a long time. You can use a piece of plastic (anything from buying a sheet from Amazon to a piece of a plastic bucket) and cover the damaged area using 2 part epoxy as adhesive then go around the plastic patch with eternabond. That will probably last a long time but it’s still a patch meaning it’s not a permanent fix and it’s obviously going to take away from the amount of light that comes through.

I agree the plastic on those things is paper thin. I’ve cracked one before. Since it was just a crack I was able to use a sealing tape to cover the crack and it worked fine for a couple of years.

Ours developed a crack through a mounting screw several years ago and I replaced it with one made of Lexan. Much tougher. Unfortunately, the fellow I got it from on Ebay isn't making them anymore. Probably some others may be.

I replaced both of my skylights as soon as the trailer was in my driveway. Bought from Ebay in 2018 and came with everything needed to install. Icon was selling the same type of replacement skylights then also. I grabbed some butyl tape (not included with my purchase) to put on the underside of the skylights before install.

Lexan (polycarbonate) is far superior to to the acrylic (plexiglass) that the manufacturers use. It's a completely different plastic material. It's thicker/stronger, doesn't yellow from UV, doesn't crack from the aging of sunlight, etc. etc. Better will cost more but it's a simple case of getting what you pay for.
