Relocating The Spare Tire

We have a 2013 X17A and our first trip out this year had a blowout on the highway. The only real problem I had was getting the spare tire out of the carrier located under the tongue and then putting the carrier back up when finished.

Has anybody relocated the spare tire to a more convenient location and if so what did you do? I'm also going to be doing DIY sewer storage and was considering the bumper but if I put a spare tire rack on the bumper then the sewer storage may have to go under the trailer towards the front. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Mike

Not sure if this will fit under your trailer but I went with the BAL Hide-a-Spare recessed mount, simple to mount and very easy to use. https://www.amazon.com/BAL-28217-Hid...70_&dpSrc=srch

The under tongue was way too low for where I camp so I removed it and just toss it (well, 2 of them actually) in the bed of the truck. May not be helpful but it sure is easy to get to.

I am concerned that moving the spare off the tongue may have a negative impact on sway because of insufficient tongue weight. Since simular Jayco's have bumper mounted spares, I can't help think that they went to the added expense of a tongue mounted spare for a reason.

Too many blow-outs that I’ve seen on dual-axle trailers have involved BOTH tires on the same side. I kept the factory underside spare, and added a second spare mounted on the rear bumper.

I'm quite sure that removing the spare tire from under the tongue won't have an effect on the tongue loading weight.

The X17 series has a channel type bumper and not a 4" x 4" box type. So, has anybody attached a spare tire carrier to the bumper of an X17 or figured out how to relocate the spare to some area other than underneath the trailer or in the back of the TV?

Thanks
