Securing cargo on floor
Hello-
I’m trying to come up with a way to secure a large ice cooler on the floor of our 16XRB without having to screw rings into the floor. Can’t really use those extendable wedge bars across the isle as we all know how flimsy the construction the inside of these trailers are. Can’t exert any force on cabinet walls etc. It’s a rather large cooler, and heavy when filled with ice and frozen food, so I want to keep it over the axle. Any ideas are welcomed.
Thanks

How about some pictures of the place(s) you’re considering. It would help seeing what we have to work with to come up with any ideas.

Non slip mat. If it is heavy it should not move much

Yea- thinking about those non slip mats. You think it will work on top of carpet? I have a Berber carpet in the isle.

Should work. I use a non slip door mat for my cooler. For normal highway travel it has been fine.
Now if you are going off road all bets are off.

Thanks for the ideas. I’ll try one of those carpet runners with the little spikes that grip into the carpet. Maybe I can screw a piece of Farring (1x3) across the top width of the runner using large fender washers underneath placed in front & back of the cooler to screw rings onto. Then I can ratchet strap over the cooler to the rings on the farring. The cooler & carpet runner will become one heavy unit gripping the carpet.

If its not too big, place it in the shower on the rubber mat.

I place stuff on the floor all the time. Never tied down, I try to brace it for quick stops. I keep a step box at my door, that has all my leveling blocks in it. I don't think it has moved more than an inch during any travels.
I have placed a few plastic totes on the floor along the back wall (not braced), they maybe moved 6-12 inches at most.

This is what I use in the bed of my truck to keep things from sliding all over.
https://circleincorporated.com/anti-skid-mats
Somewhat thin, lightweight, durable and work great.
Side note, I did not get mine from them. My neighbor gets them from work because sometimes they are left behind by the trucks he unloads. They have their Brown Bear logo printed on them. The inside floor of a semi trailer is pretty smooth so stuff will slide all over the place. That's why they put these down on the floor. I dont know how much a roll of it costs or even custom made sheets, but they work really good, for me anyway.

Any chance you could put this heavy cooler into the tow vehicle? Maybe move some lighter stuff from the TV into the trailer? Most hybrids don't have a lot of cargo capacity and putting heavy things into the TV as far forward as possible is always a good idea.
