X17Z - Trailer lock

Good Day,

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good trailer lock (coupler lock) for 2020 X17Z. I am in Ontario Canada, if possible when recommending the lock, if it could stand up to Canada's harsh climate.

Thanks!

I use a Master locking pin for my tongue. Has been fine for about 5 years now. Has a weather cover that works pretty good, just make sure it is oriented so that it doesn't become a cup to hold water in. I give the keyway a shot of silicone spray once a year.

My main security is a wheel lock like this:

I've been using this for about 3 years. I park in a yard out around Navan. Very happy with the security, but you can't be too careful and it is a very visible deterrent. Mine was a Prime Days deal, not quite so expensive (not that this one is outrageous).

Someone might point out that you only need to replace the wheel to steal the trailer, bur really, who's going to bother? The objective is to tell them to move on to an easier mark. If they want it that bad, they'll get it no matter what, and frankly if they want it that bad, they're looking for something bigger than an X-Series trailer.

ETA: And, oh yeah! Welcome to JOF neighbour! (you should appreciate the spelling )

I use a pin lock like mentioned above as well as one of the locks that goes into the coupler as well. Like Bankr said, they're really only a deterrent to get the thief to move along. If they want it they'll get it it no matter the amount of security you have.

Same Reese lock as above for at least 10 years on travel and utility trailers. No one has tried to steel either one ... yet. I'm more worried about some jomoke getting under my cars or trucks and taking the catalytic.

I also use the pin type lock. I consider it a backup check by confirming it's in place and I've secured the tongue latch before towing.

Thank you all for the advice and the welcome, it is greatly appreciated. I am a virgin RV'er ...this is my first one... so I am a bit nervous and excited....as this RV thing is out of my comfort zone!

I agree with all your points...and I figure the same thing....if someone really wants it, there is no way of stopping it.

Yes bankr63... i do appreciate the spelling!

Wish you all a safe, healthy Happy Easter!!!
