Are awning tear covered under manufacturer warranty?
Last week a sudden gust of wind created 2 small rips in our awning. My RV is still under the original manufacturer warranty and I was wondering if anyone knows if this is something covered under the warranty.
I haven't contacted Jayco yet, I wanted to get some feedback before I do.
Thanks

Wind damage is not covered. The owner's manual specifically tells you to retract it in windy conditions.
The effects of wind and rain on an awning are unpredictable and can
cause severe damage to the awning and/or the recreation vehicle.
Retract the awning if:
If wind or extended periods of rain are expected.

Yeah, unfortunately in Florida the weather changes in 5 minutes. It wasn't even windy when I setup, and by the time I realized the wind had picked up it was too late.

Unfortunately, Grumpy's right. We've seen several awnings get damaged from sudden high gusts.
Our manual awning gets tied down with a pair of those orange Harbor Freight ratchet straps and 10" or 12" nail style tent pegs. If we have a choice, we park the trailer with the awning down wind. Not always possible, but it helps when we can.

My son got a new awning during a hail damage claim with his Insurance company. It might be covered.

We destroyed our awning ( ripped) and roller ( broken in half) in a flooding rainstorm last month
10 inches in 3 hours while we slept
didnt hear a thing
We hope insurance helps
its not a manufacturing defect
but a brain defect

I can't recall which insurance company but one of my policy's over the last 8 years covered the awning. It may have been Progressive. I have an independent agent that recommended changing a couple times over the years to save me money and most likely fattening his wallet more. I didn't dig into that part of the policy, so I am not sure if your situation would have been covered.

We had an arm collapse during a rain storm and it was covered under the Jayco warranty. Its worth checking into.
