Blade vs. glass tube fuse
Boy, this may be a dumb question...
The connections inside my tongue jack in-line fuse holder, which holds a 30 amp glass cylinder fuse, is corroded beyond repair, so I’m thinking about replacing it with a waterproof blade fuse holder.
I can’t think of any reason to not get rid of the glass fuse in favor of the blade type.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Not dumb... IMO, replace the corroded one with a waterproof one; either a blade or cylinder as long as it's waterproof.

30 amp fuse is 30 amps, regardless of blade or cylinder

Re-wire it so you can replace it with a "self resetting circuit breaker"

What he said, makes life simpler if you overload it.
Here's a link. https://www.etrailer.com/dept-pg-Acc...t_Breaker.aspx
For $2.20 plus shipping it's a no-brainer in my book.

Another vote for a breaker or blade fuse. Glass fuses seem to be going the way of the dodo bird.

So does that mean that my glass fuses are antiques and worth a lot of money? Wow, if that's true then my fuses for a '67 VW must be worth a fortune. Yippie, I can retire! Uh-oh, I can't, I'm already retired. Drat!

Waterproof for sure. Forsure a circuit breaker style for the electric tongue. Blade fuses are easy to find anywhere. Glass fuses, are getting harder to find.

Ordered two, plan on giving one to the next door neighbor for his Jayco. He has blown his jack fuse a couple of times.

With the re-settable, if it trips there is a time delay before it resets. Be patient while it resets.
I'm old school and like to see the fuse and be able to test it. I keep a key caddy in my front support control area with a supply of spare fuses.
Mine is a inline fuse but not glass so w/o a VOM, it's hard to visualize it being blown but no delay replacing it. On my fifth wheel, in 7 years I have only blown 1 or 2 fuses.
