Downspout replacement

Is there a recommended way to replace a gutter downspout on the front, awning sided> Can you use glue or is there a preferred way of doing it? Thanks!

Under the plastic drip channel cover will be a screw holding the end of the channel, and the downspout, along with some sealant or butyl tape.

After pulling the screw cover plastic back a few inches you'll see the screw I'm referring to. The old downspout will be just a little stuck to the trailer, but will pull out. Put the new one n place where you want it, add more sealant or butyl tape and drive the screw back in. It'll make its own hole on the way in. Re-tuck the screw cover in place, and you're done. Not hard at all.

Downspout

The original fell out completely several years ago and was never screwed in. I have peeled up the channel which is unfortunately sealed at its end but is accessible. The screw is placed too far back to go through the neck of the replacement downspout; is it OK to create a new hole; I think that is what you are saying to do. I imagine I have to seal the old hole and then where does the butyl tape and or new sealant go? Does it go around the edges of the downspout? I'm new to this maintenance procedure, but don't mind doing it!

Thanks!

Yes, you can run an additional screw closer to the end to capture the spout behind the channel. seal up the edges where you've pulled them away a little, and a dab on the new screw threads on the way in. Dicor or something similar is good, just not silicone.

My 30z didn’t even have any installed. It’s going to be my first spring project.

What size screw is used; I don't want to use one that is too long!
Thanks!
PS: This has been a great help!

It's just to hold the downspout in place, so one the same length as the next one back that you take out would suffice since you're going to put that one back into place that holds the aluminum rail against the trailer.

What size screw should be used, especially the length?
