Fan Motor in Bathroom Vent Shot
Pulled the trailer home from storage and started checking out the vitals. One thing that did not work is the fan in the bathroom. After analysis with a multi-meter, I have switched power all the way to the motor, but the motor won't spin. Then I rapped the bottom of the fan with the handle of a screwdriver and the motor spins erratically for about 3 seconds and then stops. The vent fan looks a lot like this - however, the motor in my trailer has three wires attached, not just two.
Has anyone done this, or is it more worthwhile to just replace with a better fan?

Better fan?? This is what's in my bathroom. It moves so much air, if you're not careful itll suck your hair up into it. Figuratively speaking of course. Lol!

I would definitely install a better fan.
I didn't want to break the roof seal, so I went with a Heng's Vortex. It has 3 or 4 speeds forward and reverse.
It vents steam nicely, and I can create a little bit of a "breeze" in the camper by opening up some windows up front. It also helps suck some of the hot air out of the rig when we're trying to cool it down.
And if my hair were long enough (or if I had more of it), I bet it WOULD actually be able to suck it up into the fan. I bet I could get some of DW's hair to stand up with it on high!! So I'm not even gonna ask; next time we're in the camper and she's in the bathroom, I'm going to turn the fan on high and see what happens!! LOL!!

I went with the MaxAir Deluxe - Holy Cow what a difference in air movement! Very sorry I waited so long to make the change...

So the Vortex replacement fan fits right in the same cavity as the OEM fan? No touching the rooftop Dicor?

For about $50 you can buy a new 11 bladed fan from Amazon. It moves a lot of air. Pick one out you like

I went with the Hengs Vortex for about $100. Easy and exact fit. Not perfect but really worth the time and money.

We have the MaxxAir vent w/ rain sensor....and works great. I eventually put a MaxxAir vent cover over it even thought it had the rain sensor, so can keep it open without worrying about rain/leaking...did that with all our vents and helps greatly with letting the heat out of the Fifth Wheel.

That is correct. It's a completely "inside" job; no need to even go on the roof.
I'm really happy with mine so far. It does precisely what I need it to do, it's A LOT better than what was there, it was affordable, and installation was super easy.
I think if I remember correctly, I had a little trouble with the trim ring, but even that wasn't a big deal. A couple cuts with a utility knife and it went in. And even that may not have been necessary. I tend to over-think things, so I may have not done it exactly right, but I got tired of holding my arms above my head, so I just trimmed it how I needed and moved on.

You sound like me. I have the same exact TT as the OP, so I bet I’ll be looking at a replacement soon, too. Thanks Bob!

If you do a search you will find a recent thread where a number of us replaced the noisy and hard to reach bathroom fan with a Maxxair with remote and rain sensor. More expensive but at least my wife is not having to stand on the toilet to reach the fan switch.
I replaced one in the toy hauler with a Heng and hated it. It was loud and obnoxious.

This current listing is about 2x what I paid for it.
As for the noise, I don't think it's bad. Maxxair is likely better, but it's not a bother to me. On low I can barely hear it.
DW can reach the ceiling to change the speed/direction, and there is a wall switch to turn it on/off, so I don't worry about the height in my rig.
Given the cost differential when I purchased, it wasn't worth it to go with the more expensive and more difficult to install Maxxair for me at the time, but at the price on the link, I think it may be a different decision if I were buying today. Back then it was a stop-gap...

Jayco installed a Ventline in the bathroom of our Pinnacle. In our North Point they installed a Maxair..........1000% better than that POS ventline which broke after a year. Called Jayco and after emailing back and forth five or more times, they agreed to replace the Ventline with a Maxair if I would pay the difference which is only about $80 difference for a far superior fan.
