New two year old tires
I want to replace the seven year old Goodyear Endurance tires with new ones. A local dealer has new tires manufactured in 2022 and said they were okay to put on because of the way they had been stored. Would I be safe installing these or find ones manufactured more recently.
Thanks for your feed back.

I just bought new GY Endurance tires. I insisted that the build date was less the 1 yr old. The ones I got were made last November.
Since many manufacturers are installing GY E tires it should be easy to find tires with a recent build date.
Where were they stored, inside or outside in the weather? The dealer must not have a good turnover in inventory. Personally I would not buy them for my trailer.
The tires I removed were 7 years old with decent tread left, but a lot of minor cracking.

I require discount Tire to make sure none of my purchases are over 6 months old.

Personally, I would not accept new tires with that date code. Just my .02 worth.

Did the dealer offer any discount for the tires? Also, were they stored in a climate controlled facility?

It isn’t like GY Endurance tires are rare gems. Unless they are offering a huge discount you just can’t pass up, find the tires elsewhere or tell them to find newer ones. Even if it’s a sweetheart deal, if they have been stored in the elements, it’s a no-go.

X2.
Discount tire recommends replacing trailer tires every 4 years, which may be a bit on the cautious side.
My .02 cents worth. If they were half off I might consider them, otherwise pass.

Even stored in an ideal environment, the rubber degrades. Much less so than in a bad environment but it still degrades. In a couple years when you are doing your spring inspection, are you going to be OK knowing you have x years old tires... but it was stored properly the first 2 so it's good?
I would put them on at full price. Most trailer tires age out long before the tread runs out so you want to get the best time you can.

I would ask for a discount for them being two years old. The manufacturer is who determines the life of the tires and under what conditions

I just put Goodyear Endurance tires on my trailer with a mid-2023 date code. The original one's that came in had a mid-2022 date code and I rejected them. discount tire reordered the new one's without complaint.

Most every RV forum site Recommend replacing tire every 4-6 years from manufactured date.
Do not cheat yourself out of two years of service.
Only buy American made tires. I bought tires only to find out later they came from overseas with a year travel over the ocean!
Tire start aging when they come out of the molds. Do not let the seller tell you otherwise.

Those tires should be fine for 3-4 years.

If the dealer will put in writing a warranty based on the tire SOLD date not the DOT Serial made by date then you are probably OK.
Given the warranty on GY tires is 5 years I think then either restart the clock or get a 40% price reduction.

Don't waste your money on those tires. We used to have a saying, you can either take them off or they'll come off on their own going down the highway, then you'll have to deal with them on the side of the road. Either way, they are coming off after 4 to 6 years. And if they come off while you're driving they do a lot of damage to the side of your RV. Even if the tire dealer says they're fine, they aren't.
