Onan will not start

I have a new entegra accolade with a onan 8000 Watt generator. The Onan makes a clicking sound when I try to start it. I've never had any problem starting it before . The batteries are good, any ideas

Loose electrical connection would be first guess.

Solenoid / starter issue. If you have a voltmeter test the connections at the starter. If you see a drastic voltage drop at the starter when you engage it - it could be a seized or shorted starter or a seized engine. You must ensure you have at least 12v at the starter when you begin. If the engine appears seized, take out the spark plugs and try it as when these are fogged with oil (during winterization) they can develop a “hydralic lock” simulating a seized motor.

The generator starts using the house batteries. Are they fully charged? If you have a multimeter check the voltage at the power terminals located at the lower rear of the genset. As others have mentioned a loose connection could cause your symptoms. I would make sure to trace and check the ground wire where it connects to the Freightliner chassis.

Also, are you holding down the start switch long enough? When you first depress the button to start the unit the Onan fuel pump "clicks" bringing diesel from the main chassis fuel tank to the unit. And the unit won't crank over until the glow plugs have sufficiently warmed. That can take up to 30 seconds if the ambient temperature is low.
