Propane Regulator Replacement

Hi,
2016 JayFlight 287 BHSW - Going to replace (I’m assuming original) the regulator 2-stage with this: https://aax-us-iad.amazon.com/x/c/RJxtYOWOO1aBdZGRHPpyvJsAAAGOTJh7kQEAAAGQAQBvbm9fdH huX2JpZDcgICBvbm9fdHhuX2ltcDEgICAQ9uFS/http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C4S36HPL/ref=syn_sd_onsite_mobileweb_0?ie=UTF8&psc=1&pd_rd_ plhdr=t&aref=c66a8XesaE
Question is should I also replace the propane hose that feeds into the trailer as well? I see no obvious signs of degradation, but we’re still to be considered newbie’s….
Are the other preferred suggestions.
Thanks, Steve

The regulator that you posted should work just fine.

If there is no sign of cracking on the supply line to the trailer, I wouldn't worry about switching that.

You could, however, grab a new supply line and keep in the trailer for future issues. Then you would have a spare.

I replaced my regulator one year and the lines the next. Tiny crack, tiny leak, but figured it wouldn't heal on its own. I bought the stainless steel covered lines as plenty of squirrels in the area and the price difference was small vs. interrupting a trip.

Thanks for the tips. Question: is there a specific one? I found a 12’ stainless steel on Amazon with quick connect fittings. Unfortunately I am not close to the trailer to check.
Thanks!

When you swap out your regulator you then have to have it checked for the right pressure for your rv. They normally come set at 11" of water column but not always. Depending on your state or province this has to be done by a qualified person. There are different flow rates for regulators as well depending on the BTUs of your appliances

Bill,
Thanks for that information, I didn’t and wouldn’t have known that. Is that a dealer issue?
Thanks,
Steve

I have replaced maybe 4 regulators in my camping years. Never ever had the flow rate checked for any reason as long as the appliances they were supplying worked as designed. I always replaced with a high quality 2 stage unit with auto change over, equal or better to the OE.

Being an Engineer responsible for no loss time in my profession, my policy has always been to have spare parts available in my personal life.

Since propane regulators usually fail when it's snowing and the furnace is needed, that is my #1 spare part.

My setup includes the 2-stage regulator, hose and tank fitting. Also in the package is a tube of pipe dope and the 2 wrenches needed to change out the assembly.

The first time I had to do this was on a weekend where the temperature never exceeded 11 Deg. F., so I learned my lesson.

We bought our current Jayco in August, 2014. By September I had the part kit assembled. The first failure was in October, 2015. The OEM stuff ain't so good.
