That Space Between the Toilet Bowl & the Tank

Has anyone found a good way to clean that space between the toilet bowl and the opening to the tank? We have a habit of closing the lid before flushing the toilet. Our system became clogged at the opening to the tank and no one noticed until that space was filled up. Now there is a considerable amount of "debris" in that space. My fat hand won't fit through the opening from the bowl so I can't reach in with a wash cloth or scrub brush. I'm picturing something like a wand with a 90 degree elbow attached to a hose to stick down there and hose everything off but I don't know if such a tool exists. Any suggestions will be gratefully appreciated.

Perhaps a household toilet brush, with water from a hose on low pressure. Just enough to help rinse it down as you scrub it.

You could also try a rinse wand hooked to a hose on full pressure, but that may tend to spray back up at you. That wouldn't be fun.

But be sure the brush is firmly attached to the handle. Some of them are flimsy and come loose.

I've been using this to clean our entire toilet since we got our unit last year. I love it. Should work well for what you need to do. Hold the flush lever down to open the waste gate and clean that inside area.

Removing the toilet is two bolts and a hose connection away. The bottom of the toilet has a reusable rubber seal. Just saying...
