Thru frame slide out seal gap...

Just got this trailer (267BHS) last summer, didn't have no issues with it for the 4 or 5 times we used it at the end of summer. Stored it indoors over the winter, just went to pick it up, brought it home and put the slide out. Walking around checking it all out, for some reason now, the front vertical seal on the slide is not even touching (slight gap), it's like the whole slide moved rearward maybe 1/4" or so. So I found some adjusting instructions online, says to have it almost all the way in, just out a little, well when I put it there, it's perfectly centered in the opening. So it appears it's only the last almost foot of travel, where it comes off that front seal. It's a fairly simple mechanism, just can't figure out what would cause it. Last year all the slide seals were perfect, makes no sense. Anyone ever see anything like this?

That's the same one I have if it's made by Dexter. I got a brochure with the rig that details how to make adjustments. Just finished adjusting mine horizontally just a little and also up and down just a little. I have no idea how they moved but it did.

I found that liberal application of rubber seal lubricant did help by softening the seals up so when the slide reverses direction they don't bind the movement.

Another observation: On mine I have bulb seals on the surfaces that contact the slide inside and out so even if the wiper seal does not touch, the slide is still double sealed when open and when closed. The wiper seals are trapped inside the 2 and really don't have much to seal except when the slide is moving.

My thoughts, it’s centered with the opening from closed to probably a foot from open. So if I adjust the open position to hit the seals good, it’ll more than likely rub as it’s closing/opening through its travel. Does it matter if it’s tight on the seals as it travels? As long as it’s good full open?

I think it will be fine cause as I experienced, the bulb seals make good contact when in and when out.

If the slide presses/pinches the seals they’ll likely tear pretty quickly. My seals are the same as Norty’s, a bulb seal on top of a “sweeper” seal outside and inside. Ideally when the slide is extended the inner bulb will seal the inside and the outer sweeper will seal the outside. Before adjusting I’d suggest carefully inspecting around the slide floor and the slide walls just at the inner slide end for evidence of water invasion/damage. If you find no evidence you might let it be.
