12V vs 6V battery question

Novice battery question - If I replace the 12V batteries with 6V is it a one to one swap or do I need two 6V for each 12V?

Thanks for all the information on this site!

You need (2) 6v wired in series.

I'll just add on that you should take some measurements. 6 volter's are often different sizes that your common 12V (Group 27 for example). You'll not only need room for two, you may need more height, width.

And you're adding weight, obviously.

They are heavier per battery than single 12s and more difficult to move around or replace when the time comes.
