2022 Ford E450 motor oil

I have a new Jayco 27U and want to buy motor oil to carry with me. The manual says SAE 5-30 synthetic blend, is that what you guys use? Do I need to use Motorcraft or will any brand do? Do these motors use much oil between changes? Thanks

No you don't need a specific brand. Most (if not all) oils sold at reputable chain stores will meet or exceed the specifications.

Just match up the right weight. Mine's 5W-20. I use Mobil-1.

Changing your oil and filter at the right intervals is a helluva lot more important than buying a brand.

Mine doesn't, but I have the V-10.
I don't know if you have the new V8 or not.

Regardless - keeping an eye on the level is up to you. You need to monitor it until you get a sense of what your engine is doing.

My 2017 V10 uses that weight oil and doesn't appear to lose any. I feel that any good name brand oil will work. I was fortunate and bought some good Castrol full synthetic oil from Amazon. 5 quart jug for only $20. No preference for Castrol, the price was the factor.

I have a 1997 E-350, V10. It had 57k on it when I bought it in June. Just last week I had the oil changed at 62K. 5-30 synthetic. Don't know brand, I trust my mechanic. It did not use a drop of oil in that 5K.

It is wise of you to carry some oil for a few thousand miles, at least until the first oil change. It being new, it may still have some seals, gaskets, etc. that need to seal and may leak a little.

Along with using the weight (5w30) that Ford recommends. Years back there were many failures due to too heavy a viscosity being used.

I have a 2016 V10 with 65000 miles. I change the oil at 5000 mile intervals. I have never had to add any oil between changes. Mobil 1 Full Synthetic, 5W30 since new. I get the used oil analyzed every oil change, always get a good report back.

I have the 7.3L V8 gas engine. I use 5W-30 synthetic from Costco. Doesn't have to be Motorcraft oil. I do use the Motorcraft oil filter FL-820S. This filter is the same one used on the Triton V10.

All the gas engines that year use the FL-820s and XO-5W30-Q1SP blend oil. I reckon you don't HAVE to use Motorcraft, but I would.

I have the same engine and I use the Motorcraft oil and filters with an oil change every 5000 miles. You can just about always find the Motorcraft oil/filters at WalMart. As far as the weight just look on your oil filler cap and it will be there. Unless the engine has very high mileage it should not use any oil between changes but that doesn't mean you shouldn't check the level from time to time.
Also, if you can you might want to change the oil yourself. Look on youtube for videos showing the procedure.

Motorcraft is good oil, but so are many, many others. You can google up for the "current" supplier behind Motorcraft and make up your mind from there.

I use full synthetic 5-30 in my 7.3 litre Ford. Seems OK so far.
