Hello! I'm looking at downsizing from a Class A to a Class C - Jayco Greyhawk 30Z. I'm an experienced RVer with 12 years in a 37' 5th wheel with 5 slides, and 2 years in a Newmar Class A diesel pusher.
I want to understand what to expect from the Jayco company and the ins-and-outs of the 30Z in particular.
We are in process of the same thing. We are leaving our class A and waiting delivery of our 29MVP in a few weeks. I can tell you we did a ton of research. There is lots of great people on this forum as well as the redhawk/greyhawk facebook page. Although we have yet to take delivery of your new rig yet we really believe Jayco was a great choice and look forward to years of travelling the great USA
We're still shopping, have considered TT's, fifth wheels and Class C's.
The Greyhawk or Entegra 30Z would be my choice for a Class C.
Great engine, chassis, great warranty, be able to tow a small toad with no problem, price, love the layout with that large TV across from the seating area.
I can’t speak to the particular coach you are looking at but I will relate my Jayco experience.
I purchased new in early 2017 from a dealer 400 miles from my home and I have never been back. I had the usual minor warranty issues but a call to Jayco Motorized CS for each item resulted in me taking my rig to a local repair shop (headlight alignment, leaking hydraulic jack, etc.) or having parts shipped to me (ice maker, awning lights, etc.) which I replaced myself. Jayco then reimbursed me within a reasonable time.
The major items I couldn’t resolve locally were water leaks in two of my slideouts. I did not want to have to work through a dealer so I made an appointment to bring my coach to Middlebury. I made a laundry list of other minor things but the big one was the water intrusion. Jayco was absolutely super to work with and took care of everything to my satisfaction.
I wish everyone could purchase a new RV and have zero issues but no matter what brand you buy there is always likely to be something that needs to be addressed. Jayco gives you 2 years to do that.
Good luck in your search and keep on keeping on.
