Air Conditioning Question

I'm a first time owner of 2017 Jayco GrayHawk 31FS. I bought used at Camping world and AC could not maintain a 10 degree gradient when I bought it. They worked on it and it seemed better. But went to a lake in Texas this weekend with outside temp 102 and struggled to keep temp below 88. Even at night with temp at outside temp at 82 it could not drop into mid 70s.

We did have 3 adults and 3 kids and two dogs.
I have a nice shield for cab windshield and all curtains blacked out.

Are there AC upgrades?

Can I put a reflective coat on roof?

What should I expect when outdoor temp is blistering?
thanks

Six people and two dogs will generate a lot of heat. The A/C draws inside air, cools it, and sends it back. The warmer it is inside, the more the A/C struggles to cool the air. Also, the coach is absorbing heat from outside, so that adds to the equation.

It sounds like it is working, just can't keep up like it would with only a couple of people inside, and cooler ambient outside temps.

Give it a try under more amiable conditions, and see if it's cooling inside better.

Your roof is already white, and reflecting light pretty well.

I found Dicor "Coolcoat" online, does it help?
Anyone done this?
Something I can do? or "make sure and get a professional"

19-22 delta Temperature between supply and return is what you are looking for. Also, everything between the return section, and the supply section needs to be 100% sealed on the AC unit. Even a tiny bit of bypass is not acceptable.

I have a 2016 31FK, so we're the same size. Our 15K BTU Coleman Mach 15 AC simply will not cut it when the temps are hot outside or the sun is blazing.

Jayco figured this out and you can now get two 13.5K units as an option on the larger units.

Yeah, a 20*F delta is what the manual says, but when we were crusin' to Nebraska in the high 90's outside, it was high nineties inside.

As an aside, our unit just stopped cooling this year. After replacing the caps and doing the standard debugging, I came to the conclusion that the R410A had leaked out. And I ended up buying a whole new upper unit.

I hope I'm an anomaly. But it might be something to consider or keep tabs on, with your unit. Could it be losing refrigerant too and therefore performance?
