Battery Life

Is it ok and safe to leave a 2018 JAYCO Red Hawk SE 22C plugged in to our house electricity to keep the batteries both in the chassis and the one under the stairs continuously charged? I’ve been reading forums and it’s a split decision. Some say it can overcharge your battery in the chassis causing it to have a shorter life. Thank you in advance for your help!

It's absolutely fine to leave it plugged in. But on mine, plugging in only charges the house battery. It does NOT charge the chassis.

X2, We leave ours plugged in all summer. Last battery lasted 9.5 years. If it is a wet cell, you do need to check the water level periodically. If you need to add water, ONLY use DISTILLED water.

I have had mine plugged in going on 4 years ( original battery). As other folks have said keep an eye on the water level and use only distilled water.

I leave mine plugged in 24/7 365, but I am using a Battery Tender instead of the shore cord, because I am in a storage facility and do not want to leave my surge protector outside.

It is safe. The one under the stairs, the house battery will charge and your system will avoid overcharge. The vehicle battery will not charge from that configuration and you will need to add a trickle charger to that battery to keep it maintained. I use AGM batteries for the house battery. No water to worry about.

Exercise your generator one a month if you have one, that will also tell you if the battery is healthy.
