Caulking used on outside for water heater

Hi,

I have a 2020 Entegra Odyssey 30Z where I'm having to replace the water heater element (not a warranty item). I will most likely have to remove the water heater from the RV on the outside. Does anyone know what Jayco uses to seal the water heater back to the outside of the RV? I sure don't want it to leak from the outside and I don't want to use a cheap silicone caulk. The caulk there now is white. Thanks

Unless they've come up with something different, everything on the outside of our TT is sealed to the body with butyl tape.

Maybe he turned on the element without water in the tank?

OK, where do you buy the Butyl tape ? I will check again to verify if that is what's used. Yes, it was freezing and the tank went empty burning up the element. Thanks

UPDATE: I found some on EBay and the seller is in Elkhart, Indiana so that's a good sign that is what is most likely used. Thanks

I swapped out my water heater and got the butyl tape from good old Amazon. If only I knew to buy Amazon stock...

If you have an independent RV repair facility near you they will most likely sell you the butyl tape by the foot as you only need about 6’.

No dealer nearby so I ordered a 30 foot roll off Ebay for $17.00 in white. Thanks for the reply.
