CO2/Gas detector

Have been searching but can't find any good answers to my question. I have a 2012 Melbourne 29D. The detector is out of date so I am replacing it. Checked the power wires from the RV and I get nothing. I have checked all the fuses I can find, disconnected from house power and rechecked and still nothing. I know my batteries are fully charged. I should be reading 12 VDC at those wires correct? I just bought this thing at the beginning of last winter and getting ready for our first outing with it. Any body got any suggestions? Thanks.

Suggestions - there are a half-dozen videos on Youtube. You might see if they help.
Yes, I believe you should be seeing 12V at the wires coming out of the RV wall.

Do you have 12V in other places in the RV?

I agree with Pconroy. Find an always hot 12 volt source and run it to your CO/LP detector. Carbon monoxide is a real killer with no odor. I tried and could not find a battery operated CO/LP detector for sale as they require quite a bit of power and are one of the drainers of batteries while in storage.

On your tester is one of the leads on a good ground?

The CO detector should never be on a fused circuit and it should have constant 12 volts to it. Double check the ground connection.
