Greyhawk Doghouse Ladder for Redhawk?

My 22j does not have a doghouse ladder, nor attachments for one. The ladder for the Greyhawk looks like a good fit, wondering where I could get one with the brackets?

I'm gonna guess at this one. You know how when you screw up, and the DW sends you to the upper bunk for the night?? I think they refer to the over the cab bunk as the 'doghouse'. Whatdayathink??

Starting with the 2019.5s, they started putting in ladders in Redhawks. You can reach out to the dealer and price it, but you are probably better off getting an off-brand ladder to be honest.

My rig came with the ladder pictured here, which was built in Oct. 2018 and I bought in Feb. 2019. I'm thinking this is the ladder he's talking about. If so, a quick email to Jayco will give him the part number to order.

Yep, that's it. Have no luck communicating with Jayco but have local Jayco dealer so will check with them. Thanks all.

You will also confuse some folks, if you say 'you've put it under the boot'...

Ask for a cabover bunk ladder. They'll get you the right thing.

Well, I thought the 'boot' thing would be funny! How long did you want to stand at the dealer's parts counter, trying to get him to find a doghouse ladder? Now that you mention it, that might be funny, too! Would you be usin' an Old English accent to make it authentic??

Yes, you have a 2019.5. The first 6 months of the 2019s didn’t. They do a lot of half year upgrades. They also didn’t have slide toppers until the .5. Imagine how bad that would stink, getting those first batch 2019s. Also, interesting note- the 24Bs didn’t come out until the middle of the year. Like literally a week after I put a deposit on my 22J.

Is the side of you bed wood, pward? If so, it might work out for. Don’t get stuck on factory for that, though- it might be considerably cheaper to get an off brand ladder.

Phil . The section that folds down has a wood header and should support a ladder okay. Have looked at aftermarket and they are quite expensive, plus thought OEM would fit better. Probably both are wishful thinking on my part, but old knees would like a ladder

Trust me- it's not your knees that are going to hurt- it's your feet. The steps are so narrow that it really hurts the arch. I got these from a friend in a facebook group. It really helps climbing up and down. I just had to stain them to the color I wanted and attach them.

Agreed!! My 5YO son does okay with them, but even he has problems some days.

And another problem with the OEM ladder IMO is the rungs are too far apart.

I HATE climbing up that ladder.

Another user had an elegant solution of sourcing an A-frame ladder that was broken. He cut it down to size salvaging the "good parts", painted it, screwed on some brackets to the top and to the bed insert, and done. Nice, wide rungs, properly spaced, light weight, and CHEAP.

Oh man this is my next project. I could not agree more about the lousy ladder. If I had to sleep up there it would be with my shoes on. I must find or make these step pads!!!

The OEM ladder that came with my 2014 Greyhawk was difficult to use due the narrow rungs. Even if the rungs were wider, climbing into the bulk is difficult for us older folks, and especially when climbing down. I purchased a 5 foot aluminum light weight step ladder from Home Depot which makes it easy to climb into the over-cab bunk and is also used reaching the upper cabinets, cranking up the TV antennae, and outside maintenance chores like washing windows, checking seals on seams, etc.

I ordered ours from Walmart. I added wooden steps to it to make them more comfortable.
